The Great Repair: Umunyu
For the first time ARCH+ and munyu present The Great Repair: umunyu on the African continent – an international exhibition that explores the contradictions growth and ecology through the material culture of architecture.
Having begun its journey in Berlin before shown in Malmö and Paris, the exhibition brings together artists, architects, researchers, and community practitioners from Kenya and around the world, presenting positions from art, architecture, and spatial practice in which repair emerges as a societal and design paradigm. It makes visible new norms and values for living together while examining how acts of care, maintenance, resistance, and rebuilding can shape more just and egalitarian futures.
Accompanying the exhibition, a public programme, funded by the Agency for International Museum Cooperation, titled Umunyu: Acts of Repair will unfold throughout the exhibition period, with up to 18 events and across a range of venues in Nairobi. The following associated programming events are set to take place in the first week of the exhibition:
