ZürichseeMore Than Human—Architectures of CohabitationClaire Debons and Xue Jingfan
At a first glance, the built fabric as well as the nature surrounding Lake Zurich seems solidified. In reality, it is a highly green region with a lower building density than the city centre of Zurich. What are these green areas? Taking a careful look at the unbuilt fabric along the lake shore, one can define three types of nature: the Tobel forest, the vineyard, and the private garden. Fragmented between built fabric, it is their edges where human and nature meet and cohabitation between multiple species takes places. By revaluing these moments, we have the ability to build for “more than human.”
