is a landscape architect, senior researcher and FCL project coordinator. Karoline graduated from the TU Berlin Institute for Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning. Since joining Prof. Milica Topalović's Hinterland Project at Singapore’s Future Cities Laboratory in 2013, she has taught and coordinated research and design studios, contributed to multiple exhibitions and worked on the invited territorial study “Greater Geneva — A Charter for Socio-Ecological Transition” with the chair at D-ARCH, ETH Zürich. In her current role as a senior researcher and project coordinator, Karoline is engaged in the ETH Global FCL Zürich project “New Agendas for Planetary Urbanisation — Agrarian Change and Agroecological Transitions”, focusing on Zürich’s Metropolitan Region. Her work combines territorial research with landscape interpretation, exploring ecological design through mapping and critical cartography. Some research findings are presently exhibited at the ZAZ BELLERIVE — Zentrum Architektur Zürich, in the show Planetary Urbanisation/ Agrifutures Zürich, which she co-curated with Christian Schmid and Milica Topalović.
Beyond her research pursuits, Karoline leads Studio 2KLA, a Zürich-based landscape practice specialising in process-oriented open space projects across various scales at the interstice between design and experiments. She also co-founded the cartographic collective “Maps and More — Kartografische Werkstatt,” showcasing her independent work in museums, books, and online platforms.
